Junk Hauling and Cleanouts in the City of Frederick
We haul junk, clear out houses and apartments, and do repairs inside the city limits, from downtown rowhouses to the newer neighborhoods on the edges of town. The owner, James (Jay) King, quotes the work and is on every job. Our base on Jefferson Pike is about 4 miles from downtown, so city jobs are a short drive.
How close we are
5738 Jefferson Pike to downtown Frederick is about 4 miles, roughly 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic on Jefferson Pike and Route 340. That's close enough that we can usually look at a job in person the same week if photos don't tell the whole story.
What the City picks up, and what it doesn't
The City of Frederick handles trash for city households, and its bulk service is a good deal if your stuff is already at the curb:
- One free bulk pickup per household each year, about 10 items per appointment, booked online. Extra pickups cost a fee.
- Mattresses and box springs are limited to three per household.
- Items have to be at the curb or trash corral. City collectors will not go into houses, fenced yards or onto private property to get them.
- Yard waste goes out weekly on the same day as your regular trash.
- The City does not routinely remove eviction set-outs. The property owner is responsible, and fines can add up for each day the pile stays.
Information checked October 2026. Town schedules change; the linked town page has the latest.
The gap is everything between your attic and the curb. A dresser on the third floor of a rowhouse, a freezer in a basement with a narrow stair, or an eleventh item: that's where we come in. We carry it out, load it and sweep up. See junk removal for what we haul.
Downtown rowhouses and the historic district
Much of downtown sits in the Frederick Town Historic District. Most exterior changes there, including additions and site work, need a Certificate of Approval from the Historic Preservation Commission before a building permit is issued; some minor repairs are exempt. Before we take down anything outside on a downtown property, we'll ask whether that approval is in hand. Inside, the jobs are what you'd expect in old houses: hauling out plaster and lath, tearing out a dated kitchen or carpet, and clearing basements and attics reached by tight stairs. Those fall under light demolition and cleanouts.
Nearest drop-off
For anything the town won't take, the county's site at 9031 Reichs Ford Road is open to residents Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 4:30 PM. Accepted scrap metal and empty appliances go in free at the recycling entrance. Residents can also drop off up to five 30-gallon yard waste bags per day free; loads that carry a fee go through the main entrance. From downtown it's about 5 miles, so it's the nearest option for city residents too.
